Breaking the Monopoly — Eight Years to Crack the Key Challenge

SCR exhaust aftertreatment systems for vehicle and marine diesel engines, diesel particulate filter systems (DPF), tunnel/industrial kiln exhaust treatment devices… When the journalist recently visited Kailong Hi-Tech — a high-tech enterprise in Huishan District integrating R&D, production, sales, and after-sales service — they were struck by the company's powerful industrial chain and research capabilities. Founded in 2001, Kailong Hi-Tech is an environmental equipment supplier dedicated to treating exhaust pollution from internal combustion engines and reducing harmful gas emissions. The company's flagship products include more than 300 varieties across three major categories of internal combustion engine exhaust aftertreatment systems, applied to exhaust pollution control for road vehicles, off-road mobile machinery, and marine internal combustion engines in China, as well as industrial pollution control. Over eight years, Kailong Hi-Tech tackled the key technical challenges of exhaust aftertreatment systems, broke through the technological barriers of foreign giants, and built a complete SCR exhaust aftertreatment independent innovation industrial chain.

China is currently the world's largest automobile producer and consumer, and the pollution caused by vehicle exhaust is increasingly severe. In 2009, Kailong Hi-Tech launched a domestically produced diesel SCR exhaust aftertreatment system meeting China IV emission standards, which attracted intense industry attention at the time. Today, an exhaust aftertreatment system meeting China VI emission standards has already begun matching with multiple manufacturers.

Technological Innovation — Building the 'Last Line of Defense' for Exhaust Treatment

Kailong Hi-Tech's Chairman Zang Zhicheng is a native of Wuxi. After graduating from Jiangnan University (formerly Wuxi Light Industry College), he worked at a company for several years before resigning to enter the automotive parts market. His initial focus was on automotive exhaust heaters — devices that convert the heat from vehicle exhaust into cabin heating, reducing both fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Chairman Zang noted that the key driver pushing them into the automotive exhaust aftertreatment field was the 2008 Beijing Olympics. At the time, the Beijing municipal government required the public transportation system to be the first in the country to achieve internationally standardized exhaust emissions. In 2006, Kailong Hi-Tech won the Beijing public bus exhaust heater project through competitive bidding. While installing the systems for the Beijing bus company, he noticed that an exhaust aftertreatment component provided by international engine giant Cummins — designed to bring emissions up to China IV standards — represented a massive business opportunity waiting to be seized by domestic enterprises.
