According to the National Development and Reform Commission website, to further implement the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law, China fully implemented the "China V Emission Standard" nationwide from January 1, 2017 — placing higher demands on the exhaust aftertreatment industry. In response to the increasingly severe air pollution prevention situation, to reduce harm caused by motor vehicle exhaust emissions, and to meet the requirements of increasingly stringent future emission regulations, on December 17, 2016, the China Internal Combustion Engine Society's Aftertreatment Technology Branch was established at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Kailong Hi-Tech Chairman Zang Zhicheng was invited to attend the inaugural conference and was appointed as Vice Chairman of the Aftertreatment Technology Branch. Nearly 100 aftertreatment industry elites and technical experts from renowned universities and enterprises across China gathered together to engage in in-depth discussions on advancing the innovation of internal combustion engine aftertreatment technology routes and ensuring the orderly implementation of environmental regulations.

At the conference, Jin Donghan, Chairman of the China Internal Combustion Engine Society and Academician, delivered the opening address, congratulating the establishment of the Aftertreatment Technology Branch. He noted that the establishment of the Aftertreatment Technology Branch by the China Internal Combustion Engine Society was an inevitable strategic choice made after careful assessment of the situation, and would play a pivotal role in the industry's sustainable development. Subsequently, China Internal Combustion Engine Society Deputy Secretary-General Feng Mingzhi read the approval document and committee member list for the "Establishment of the Aftertreatment Branch of the China Internal Combustion Engine Society." Academician Jin Donghan presented appointment certificates to Shanghai Jiao Tong University Vice President Huang Zhen, Kailong Hi-Tech Chairman Zang Zhicheng, and others as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Aftertreatment Technology Branch respectively. Chairman Zang Zhicheng stated that all units of the Internal Combustion Engine Society's Aftertreatment Technology Branch possess first-class talent, cutting-edge technology, highly effective management experience, and stable production capabilities, and will play a key role in effectively curbing the deterioration of air pollution. To achieve the upgrade and transformation of motor vehicle exhaust emissions as quickly as possible, Kailong Hi-Tech — as a backbone force in the aftertreatment field — will spare no effort in innovating purification technology, enhancing matching capabilities, and strengthening exchanges and cooperation with other outstanding companies within the branch, contributing its part to the rise of China's environmental cause.

At the subsequent academic symposium, policy research department director Yin Hang of the Ministry of Environmental Protection's Motor Vehicle Emission Monitoring Center, China Automotive Engineering Research Institute consultation department director Chao Peipei, and U.S. Southwest Research Institute chief expert Zhan Rijing delivered academic keynote reports on topics including China VI light-duty vehicle emission standards, China's technical roadmap for fuel-efficient vehicles, and the significance of internal combustion engine aftertreatment technology for preventing and controlling China's air pollution. Increasing the intensity of internal combustion engine exhaust treatment and improving air quality has become an unstoppable trend. The China Internal Combustion Engine Society's Aftertreatment Technology Branch will establish a national exchange platform, making important contributions to promoting industry-university-research cooperation and academic progress within the field, and enhancing China's scientific innovation capabilities in internal combustion engine aftertreatment technology.
